Autons are plastic in any shape or form, that have been animated by the Nestene Consciousness. They can be anything plastic based, but most of all plastic dummies from shop windows were useful for the Nestene. They acted as humans, though not very realistic, and could move limbs with jerky movements. Other things included a rubbish bin, that rumbled. When Mickey Smith lifted up its lid to see if there was anything inside, he got stuck to it, trying to pull away, but stretching the plastic. They captured him when they were trying to get to the Doctor, and replaced him with a plastic form, although Rose thought he was real. They broke out of shop windows, and used guns placed inside their hands, to shoot anyone they wanted. The Nestene used them as its guards and restrainted the Doctor. When the Nestene was destroyed, they returned to their original forms.
